Success! The recording of the Cornishe went ahead and I have my demo. From here I can send out the work and hopefully get some performances. Click here to go to the page directly and listen to some excerpts.
The next major effort is the completion of the Afghanistan project. Briefly, the album provides a commentary on the futility of war, is written for string orchestra, SAA choir, solo Soprano, Soprano Saxophone, Piano/keyboards and Rhythm section. I am looking to perform the entire album next year at some appropriate event (memorial/armistace day, at the national memorial arboretum etc...) so if anyone has any ideas, please drop me a line.
I've just realised how little attention I've given my site since the cold weather! So here is an update on all things musical in the Taylor household.
Recording for the Cornishe quintet was put back due to player commitments elsewhere, and is now set for 19th July; fingers crossed.
More recordings of school orchestra stuff done. Its on Utube (so the players can hear it), but I'll pop a copy on the listening pages when I get a mo.
I've spent the majority of my time this year in completing the writing for my new album which focusses on the futility of war, as seen in Afghanistan. See the News pages for more
John Daniel was a little known English composer of the 1600's and recently I have been working on arranging a collection of his songs with soprano Sonia Ruth. These songs form part of a dissertation for her Masters at Trinity College London and have proved a delightful distraction from other (composition) projects on the go at the moment -particularly as gigs seem to be rather scarce this year as well. I've put a demo on the listenenig pages so you can see where we are going with this. As always, any thoughts you have, I'd love to hear from you.
I've made a little film of the Photos of the recording for On This Day. Its on the News pages.
First performance of "A Series of Unfortunate Things..." See the education page for more info.
